Auction Guide

How do I bid on an item?

Once you have selected an item to bid on, click the "Bid now" button below the picture. You will be redirected to our secure bidding platform where you can submit your bid.

  1. Sign Up: For your bid, you will be prompted to complete your details, including your email address and phone number.
  2. Authenticate: You will receive an email and/or text message containing a one-time security code. If you do not receive the email immediately, check your spam folder.
  3. Return to the auction platform and place your bid: Enter your payment information and place a bid. You will receive a bid confirmation notice and the amount of your bid.

When does the auction end?

The auction will end on November 1, 11:59 pm EST. The highest bidders for each item will receive a message informing them that they have won the item and providing further instructions.

I won an item. What do I do now?

After the auction ends, you will receive a notice that you are the winner, along with an electronic invoice and options for shipping or picking up a tangible item, or instructions for redeeming a non-tangible item.

Can I get an invoice in a company's name?

Yes. Contact us at auction@thehellenicinitiative.ca after receiving your winning-bid notification, and we will issue the invoice using the details provided.

Do I have to include my credit card information when registering?

We request your credit card information for verification purposes. No charges will be made until you have won your item. Your linked card must have sufficient funds for the bid, and your card details remain confidential.

Will my credit card be charged when I place a bid?

We do not charge your credit card when you place a bid. Instead, we place a pre-authorization to verify that your card has sufficient room for the bid amount. This may appear as a pending transaction and typically disappears within 3 to 7 days.

How can I pay for an item I have won?

The winning bid is automatically charged to your linked Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card when the auction ends on November 1, 11:59 pm EST.

Will other users be able to see my information?

No. Only the amount of the current highest bid is displayed, ensuring anonymity.

How do I know I have been outbid?

If you are outbid, you will receive an email and text message confirming that you have been outbid. Follow the link in the message to raise your bid for a chance to win the item.

I reside outside Canada. Can I bid?

You must be a Canadian resident or have a Canadian address to participate in the auction.
